The Canada Brain Research Fund was built on the success of Brain Canada’s signature Brain Repair Program which ran from 2003 - 2010 and was aimed at accelerating collaborative, multidisciplinary, multi-institutional brain repair research. Five teams were selected through an open call process and national and international peer review, and each received $1.5 million over three years. This program enabled world-class Canadian researchers across the country to form highly focused teams, and to make a number of important breakthroughs. All five teams made major discoveries within the term of their grants.
