Ottawa Charity Bike Ride Raises $2,500 for Brain Canada

On Sunday, September 28, Beyond the Pale Brewing Company in Ottawa proudly hosted its annual charity bike ride, bringing together more than 80 passionate participants in support of brain research.

A Personal Tribute

This year’s event carried profound personal meaning. Rob McIsaac, one of the brewery’s co-owners, had recently shared the news of his father’s diagnosis with dementia, and passing just days before the ride. In tribute to his memory and in solidarity with all those affected by brain diseases and disorders, the ride became a deeply meaningful occasion.

Cyclists followed a 60 km scenic route through Ottawa. Some rode in honour of loved ones affected by neurological conditions, while others simply joined to champion the cause. The atmosphere was one of community and purpose, with volunteers from Cheshire Cat Pub, Character Creative and Full Cycle Ottawa cheering on the participant every step of the way.

More than 80 riders came together in Ottawa on September 28 to participate in Beyond the Pale’s annual charity bike ride in support of Brain Canada.

Championing Brain Research

By the end of the day, $2,500 had been raised and donated to Brain Canada. These funds will help fuel critical research dedicated to understanding, treating, and ultimately finding cures for neurological conditions such as dementia. Every dollar represents a step forward in the fight for brain health, and a testament to the power of community-driven compassion.

“Investing in brain research is investing in the future of our families and our communities. Every dollar raised through events like this helps accelerate discoveries that bring hope to those affected by brain diseases and disorders.” – Barbara Celinska, Director of Development

“Thanks to Brain Canada’s 1:1 matching program with the Government of Canada, through Health Canada, every contribution is doubled, amplifying its impact and bringing us closer to breakthroughs,” explains Celinska.

Following the ride, participants came together at the brewery for a heartfelt post-event gathering. The success of this year’s ride stands as a powerful reminder of how grassroots efforts can spark meaningful awareness and generate important funding for life-changing research.
