Funding Brilliance Daily, Brain Canada’s 2019-2020 Impact Report is here. We are proud to highlight the research we are enabling and supporting across the country, and to share the power of philanthropy in driving innovation and discovery.

For more than two decades Brain Canada has championed paradigm-changing brain research, and made the case for the brain as a single system with commonalities across neurological disorders, mental illnesses, and brain and spinal cord injuries. Looking at the brain as one system is critical, as we explore the connectivity between neurodegenerative disorders and our mental health.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, especially the Government of Canada and Health Canada, Brain Canada disbursed more than $24 million in research grants this year. The majority of these grants received funding through the Canada Brain Research Fund, a matching-funding partnership between Brain Canada and the Government of Canada, through Health Canada.

The paradigm-shifting research we fund aims to detect, treat and improve outcomes for a wide range of brain diseases, disorders and injuries to the brain. With the dedication of our researchers and clinicians carrying out this important work, and with the continued support of our partners and donors, we are committed to transforming brain research across the country, and connecting the scientific community through the scale of its funding.

People living with brain diseases need us now more than ever, and we are here to help through our truly interdisciplinary commitment to brain research. Together, let’s fund brilliance daily today.
