Sex-related differences in visuomotor skills, cognition, and emotionality following concussive injury
Project Overview
The proposed research project aims to study the differences in brain function behaviour between male and female university athletes who have experienced a concussion. The research will examine hand-eye coordination, thinking and mental processing, and feelings and emotions of these athletes. The research will also investigate the impact of concussion history on their advanced task performance and emotional health. Participants will be asked to complete a task on a tablet to assess thinking and movement coordination, and their performance will be evaluated using statistics. The findings from this research will help in developing different male and female guidelines for treating concussions, leading to better diagnosis and healing methods surrounding concussions across different populations. Overall, this research is important because it has the potential to widen knowledge of the processes involved in concussion healing and help people affected by this common and debilitating injury.
