Supporting Student Success — Development of a National Standard to address the psychological health and safety of post-secondary students

Project Overview

The MHCC, in collaboration with CSA Group (as the standards development organization), has championed the development of the CSA Z2003 Mental health and well-being for post-secondary students standard. Developed by a Technical Committee of 35 experts from 2018-2020, this standard is the first of its kind in the world; it is a voluntary framework that provides guidelines for post-secondary academic institutions to promote and support the psychological health, safety and success of their students. Additional funds will be allocated to the work MHCC is overseeing to develop resources to support institutions in their self-assessment and implementation efforts related to the standard.

Territorial acknowledgement

The offices of Brain Canada Foundation are located on the traditional, ancestral territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka Peoples, a place which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst nations. We honour and pay respect to elders past, present and emerging, and dedicate ourselves to moving forward in the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and reconciliation. In our work, we focus our efforts on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, particularly those that pertain to improving health for Indigenous Peoples and that focus on advancing our own learning on Indigenous issues.
