The Social Network: Moving evidence on dementia into practice with ethnically diverse communities
Project Overview
“Research evidence identifies that people from equity-seeking groups, particularly those from racialized communities face significant barriers along their dementia journey, both from an individual (community) and a system (policy) perspective.
The two goals of this proposal are to:
1. Community: Raise awareness of dementia, improve confidence to detect symptoms, and promote self advocacy to discuss symptoms with a physician, by meeting communities where and how they access information (social networks) across two provinces (Ontario and Quebec), to address culturally relevant needs and linguistic needs through co-design.
2. Policy: Provide implementable recommendations on strategies to address barriers to diagnostic and support services faced by equity-seeking communities at the policy level in Quebec, informed by rapid community engagement.”
