    Position title: Marketing and Communications Officer
    Role Profile: Professional-level 2
    Status: Permanent, full-time (37,5 hours/week)
    Reporting to: Lead, Digital Communications & Stewardship
    Location: Montreal, hybrid

    SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

    Reporting to the Lead, Digital Communications & Stewardship, the Marketing and Communications Officer coordinates, develops and disseminates all public announcements, including but not limited to researcher profiles, research impact stories, donor profiles and brain health awareness content for all digital tools, including emails, website, social media platforms and newsletters. This position also supports the production of donor proposals and donor stewardship materials. Exceptionally organized and autonomous, this role serves as a connective hub across departments, applying rigorous attention to detail to ensure every announcement, research story, and content opportunity is strategically captured and executed.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Write, design and layout monthly e-newsletter in CRM platform, Constant Contact.

    • Produce announcements and companion research stories that showcase the impact of Brain Canada’s funding and partnerships, driving high‑quality earned media coverage.

    • Develop engaging, relevant brain health content for e-newsletters, digital communications, annual report, website copy, social media platforms.

    • Publish and update content on Brain Canada’s website, applying SEO and GEO best practices and ensuring consistency with brand guidelines.

    • Execute and manage Brain Canada’s day-to-day social media presence, planning, creating and publishing coordinated research impact, partner news, and donor stewardship posts.

    • Monitor and compile monthly social media performance reports, tracking key metrics such as reach, engagement, and follower growth.

    • Fosters meaningful interactions by engaging with audiences, responding thoughtfully, and nurturing a positive, active community around the brand through effective community management.

    • Layout and disseminate funding opportunities, reminders, and other communications to research community via CRM and social media (Mailchimp, subject to change), in close collaboration with Programs Team.

    • Layout and disseminate digital campaigns throughout the year, in collaboration with Relationship Marketing Department.

    • Act as Brain Canada ambassador at exhibitor tables at public events, conferences and knowledge exchange workshops.

    • Support design and printing of marketing materials for events.

    • Fully own Brain Canada’s content calendar by proactively coordinating with Program Managers, team members, and partners, and ensuring visibility and follow‑through across all departments.

    • Good knowledge of media monitoring software (CISION).

    • Other related duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bilingual, English and French, with ability to write compelling content, copyedit and publish in both official languages. The incumbent of this position will be required to communicate continuously in English, in addition to French, with all internal and external stakeholders in Canada.

    • University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or another related field.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

    • Experience managing day-to-day social media accounts (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky, YouTube), including content creation, scheduling and community engagement.

    • Strong background writing engaging research impact features and donor recognition materials.

    • Proficiency in Canva for the creation of on-brand social media graphics, promotional materials and digital assets.

    • An asset: Comfortable capturing content on a smartphone and producing basic video edits.
