On June 9, 2026, donors from Toronto's foodservice industry gathered at the Royal Woodbine Golf Club for the fifth annual Do It for Dementia golf tournament, raising $22,000 for Brain Canada.
The tournament was organized by Wendy Brancato, Denise Paul, Marianne Katusin and Monique Hoewing.
“Everyone in this industry seems to know someone touched by dementia whether it's personal or professional. It's so great to have our foodservice industry rally together for such a great cause. We are so happy to support Brain Canada in their research that they are conducting and to see that turn into something concrete for the future."

Also in attendance were Brain Canada's Director of Development, Barbara Celinska, and Senior Program Manager, Fiona Sanderson.
New to this year's tournament was a short talk from Dr. Peter Zhukovsky, a researcher at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and one of Brain Canada's Future Leaders in Canadian Brain Research. Zhukovsky studies blood proteins as early markers of cognitive decline, with a focus on how depression interacts with those markers to raise dementia risk.
Since 2011, Brain Canada has committed more than $58 million to dementia research through over 158 grants.
Community events like Do It for Dementia help make ongoing support for brain research possible.
