Platform for Neurology Biomarker Innovation

Innovative methods that enable brain-derived proteins to be measured in blood samples are transforming the field of neurology. For example, it is now possible to use a blood test to help diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease and to monitor treatment in Multiple Sclerosis. This project will establish The University of British Columbia (UBC) Platform for Neurology Biomarker Innovation (PNBI).

Characterization of Glutamatergic Premotor Spinal V3 Interneurons in a SOD1G93A Mouse Model of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive disease that destroys the motor neurons needed for movement, speech, and breathing, but new research shows that other spinal cord cells called interneurons may be affected even earlier.

Targeting Cryptic Exon Inclusion to Modify the G3BP1 Interactome in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) are devastating diseases in which a protein called TDP-43 ends up in the wrong part of the cell, disrupting its normal role in managing RNA.

Investigating the Templated Propagation of the ALS-related Protein FUS in iPSC-derived Cerebral Organoids

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness and paralysis, partly due to the buildup of protein aggregates in nerve cells.
